2010 Home sales off to fast start
According to the Pacific Business News Home sales on Oahu were up in January 2010, compared to January 2009. There were 162 single-family homes sold, compared to 122 homes sold last January… a 33 percent increase. Great news, but then again, everything is relative… according to a Star Bulletin article published a year ago, experts called January 2009 “very weak” for single-family home sales.

Oahu home sales continue to sink
Sales dropped in March, but the median price of single family homes rose to $600,000, up 8.1 percent from February. According to the president of the Hawaii Board of Realtors, Oahu’s market is weak and slower conditions are expected to persist until Hawaii’s economy recovers.

December home sales hit lowest point since 1963
PBN reported that new home sales fell to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 331,000 in December. That’s down nearly 15 percent from a revised 388,000 annual rate in November. December’s total was the lowest on records dating back to 1963.
